Weaving Labyrinths was my first solo exhibition in 2017 and was one of my first attempts to resolve an art workof weaving throughthe medium of drawing.
The practice based means of investigation within my artistic research is drawing. Drawing to me is not limited to the representation of a subject, thought or an idea on a two dimensional surface. My vocabulary within the process of drawing extends over a wide variety of media and dimensions, in this project I had intended to explain my drawings preliminary drafts of weaving.
The nature of drawing is process based, generative and reproductive. I experience the same formal qualities while weaving.The quality of mark-making remains constant in both drawing and weaving and both processes result in a multilayered composition on the surface of the material being used.
I experience the process of weaving as if it were a drawing.
